Rural Health
GP+ Programme focused on Rural Health, offers you the opportunity to develop skills within pre-hospital medicine. This could include spending your training time between the Urgent Primary Care Centre and Emergency Department. You will be allocated a dedicated mentor to support you throughout.
Alongside your training, support will be provided to enable you to undertake a project of work with a focus on Rural Health and prepare a poster presentation based on your findings, to submit to a UK conference.
You will be spending your Salaried GP time in a Rural GP Practice, where access is traditionally affected by rurality, and it's associated burdens.

Prepare an abstract submission for Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) or Rural Health Conference and poster presentation if abstract is successful

Towards the end of your training programme the GP+ team will meet with you and the practice management team to agree next steps and discuss what support is required once you step off the programme.
Although stepping off the programme could look different for each GP, your salaried GP role is guaranteed and your salary will be reviewed. It is envisioned that for the Rural GP role, you could work in an Urgent Care setting and/or take a lead in the Practice for pre-hospital medicine/ Rural health.
